; 4,7 of 10. The grudge watch tape. THE GRUDGE is a reboot of the horror series of the same name or a continuation. I'm not really sure this movie knows which one of those it is.
I honestly don't know what this movie is about, because this movie doesn't really know either. It's told in a non-linear fashion, but none of the ideas with these plot lines are fully developed and it leaves so many gaping plot holes. Because of this, not only does the audience feel confused and have to constantly figure out what is going on, but the movie itself feels confused in its presentation. It's a dull, uninspired movie with no creative vision.
These characters are also amongst some of the weakest characters I have seen in a movie in awhile. None of the are developed and a lot of them make stupid decisions that prove to be fatal in the long run.
The biggest mistake this movie makes is that it lacks any sense of suspense or tension. It thinks that by having a shadowy figure pass by in the background or the foreground or by showing the entities in full lighting is scary and it relies very heavily on jump scares. I'll say this, at least the acting is adequate.
In all honesty, this is what I expect from a release in the first week of January. I've seen stencil graffiti with more depth than this.
I'm going to give THE GRUDGE an F.

What a shame. I was really hoping that this "reboot" even though it alledgedly takes place between 1 & 2) wouldn't suck. The trailers intrigued me and I always thought the Grudge series (Japanese & American) was an interesting premise even though they weren't all that good.
However this movie is just a fat cleveland steamer for anyone looking for good scares and had high hopes that this movie might give reboots (especially horror reboots) a good rep. All the 'scares' were shown in the trailer, it was a sad excuse for a horror movie. If EVERY SINGLE SCARE wasn't an ear drum rattling jumpscare I would've fallen asleep in the theatre.
I was so excited to see the Grudge get a supossedly hard R rating for what was supposed to come across as gore but all of it was just so uncreative and disapointing. Not to come off as a "horror purist" but jumpscares are single handily ruining the horror film genre and this movie is a grade A example why. br> The ONLY redeeming thing about this movie was towards the latter half where Lin Shaye's character was in the kitchen chopping on a cutting board and it was revealed that she was chopping away at her fingers. Even though (as I said before) that scene was spoiled in the trailer watching it in the theatre made me pretty uncomfortable for a moment, especially when Jacki Weaver's character discovered that she murdered her husband right before.
Save your money & your time and avoid this trainwreck snooze fest.
La, la, la, la, la, la-la-lie. I was so so so excited to watch it, but after i did it became one of the worst horror movies i've ever seen. This version had me remembering the Scary Movie version when Cindy is talking random Japanese names and words to the little boy and he just replies Mitsubishi and Honda lol. The grudge watch free. Best movie ju on the grudge thank you sony for this reboot.

"You can't escape the curse. " People around the world love to see movies of horror. The Grudge has had two hit movies in the past. The Grudge 3 is just as exciting and entertaining as the previous movies before hand. The Grudge 3 is directed by Toby Williams. He has had a lot of success for the movie called Splinter. The Grudge 3 takes place after the Grudge 2's events. in the second part of the film. Jake was placed in a mental hospital. Jake is under the care of a Dr. Sullivan while in the mental hospital. The doctors and nurses think that Jake is trying to harm himself. They end up finding him dead. Kayako's sister finds out about the death of Jake. Dr. Sullivan decides to investigate the death of Jake. Lisa is the sister of Max who lives in the same apartment complex as Jake did. The people who know Kayako and who are kind to her come to Chicago. Rose is the sister of Kayako. Jake is later possessed by the spirit of Daisuke. Lisa visits to end the curse. Sullivan goes to research the murders. Jake was killed by the curse of Toshio and Kayako. The curse continues to take more lives. The young Japanese woman wants to bury the curse forever so no one else will get hurt. The Grudge 3 is rated R for violence, rude language, and disturbing images. The grudge was the scariest movie Ive ever seen, it scarred me for life 😂 Went to see this one expecting to be scared but god I have to say this movie was... terrible for lack of a better word.
